How the immune system works

antibodies_and_antigens.gif

Immune systems work to recognize the antigens and get rid of them. The antibodies stay in a person's body so it will know to kill the virus so they usually don't get sick from it again. This is how vaccines prevent diseases and viruses. Although antibodies can remember an antigen and lock on to it, they can also destroy antigens tagged by antibodies. T cells also help signal other cells to do their job.
